It’d be a sci-fi nerd’s wet dream if Arnold and Sigourney cameo.

Back in 1970, Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, The Band and other musical legends boarded a cross-Canadian train, which turned into a five-day jam session on rails only interrupted by the occasional concert layover and liquor run.

In this CGI revision of the classic comic strip, Bill Murray voices Garfield, the large, lazy, lasagna-loving feline. However, when Odie gets kidnapped one night, Garfield feels responsible and sets out to recover him.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (PG)
After another dreary summer with his Muggle aunt and uncle, 13-year-old wizard Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) returns for his third year at Hogwarts. This year’s threat comes from Sirius Black (Gary Oldman), a mad wizard recently escaped from Azkaban prison and reportedly on his way to kill Harry. The young wizard and his friends Hermione and Ron deal with old rivalries, new teachers and the looming issues of adolescence. Alfonso Cuarón (Y Tu Mamá También) directs Steve Kloves’ screenplay in the best adaptation yet of one of J.K. Rowling’s tremendously successful novels.

Depending on your tolerance for nerdy teenagers, Napoleon Dynamite could be this year’s Rushmore or another painfully awkward visit to adolescence like Welcome to the Dollhouse. Napoleon (Jon Heder) lives in rural Idaho with his grandmother and older brother. When Grandma leaves, Uncle Rico shows up and meddles with their lives while Napoleon helps his pal Pedro run for class president. The directorial debut of 24-year-old Jared Hess was a hit at Sundance.

An elderly man (James Garner) visits an aging woman (Gena Rowlands) in a nursing home and reads her a story of two young lovers, Noah (Ryan Gosling) and Allie (Rachel McAdams). Bring the tissues—this one sounds like a real tearjerker. From the novel by Nicholas Sparks, and directed by Nick Cassavettes.

Based on true events, an on-the-rocks couple escapes for an island vacation. Things go dangerously awry when they are inadvertently left behind during a scuba diving trip. The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
