Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (PG-13)
Former Saturday Night Live cast member Will Farrell brings his custom brand of comedy to this ’70s news spoof about women entering the male-dominated world of the nightly news. Somewhere between making love to his ego and drowning in Scotch, Burgundy (Farrell) has become San Diego’s top anchor. His career is threatened when a female anchor Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) joins his team as co-anchor. Read the review on page 33.
Now Showing: Halls Cinema 7, Foothills 12, Carmike 10, Tinseltown USA, Farragut Towne Square, West Town Mall

Before Sunset (R)
When Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy) first met in 1995 (in Before Sunrise), they spent one special night walking the streets of Vienna. Despite an intense attraction, they decided to not pursue romance. Now nine years older, still single and showing actual wrinkles, they reconnect for another chance—at least until nightfall—to find out if they are each other’s one true love. And if they don’t, there’s always another sequel, like Before Baldness and Menopause. Written by Hawke, Delpy and director Richard Linklater.

Breakin’ All the Rules
After getting dumped by his girlfriend, Quincy (Jamie Foxx) writes a best-selling book suggesting that guys break up with their girlfriends before they can get hurt. Quincy’s cousin (Morris Chestnut) asks Quincy to help him break up with his girlfriend (Gabrielle Union), but in the process, Quincy falls for her.
Now Showing: Movies 7

A Cinderella Story (PG)
This modern-day twist on an old fairy tale even has a wicked stepmother (Jennifer Coolidge) and two evil stepsisters. Sam (Hillary Duff) is a high schooler lacking a social life until she meets her prince at the Halloween Dance. Replace a glass slipper with a cell phone, and, well, you can see where this is going.

The Clearing (R)
This slow-burn psychological thriller and study in class warfare stars Robert Redford as a wealthy CEO kidnapped by a former employee (Willem Dafoe) and held for ransom in the forest. The businessman is forced to face his past infidelities with his wife (Helen Mirren) as she helps the FBI negotiate for his release.
Now Showing: Downtown West

Coffee and Cigarettes (R)
Ahh, sweet vices. This collection of comical short stories by Jim Jarmusch (Smoke, Dead Man) approaches life from an obscure angle and snowballs into something about the joy that exists in the addictions and obsessions in life. Talk about a cast of characters: there’s Steve Buscemi, Steven Wright, Iggy Pop and Tom Waits, just to name a few.
Now Showing: Downtown West

The Day After Tomorrow (PG-13)
Tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, tidal waves, floods and the dawn of a new ice age are all part of the worst-case scenario if the green house effect and global warming were to reach catastrophic levels. Paleoclimatologist (where do you get a degree in that?) Adrian Hall travels to New York City, which is buried under snow thanks to the start of a new ice age, to look for his son Sam (Jake Gyllenhall). Hall’s the only one trying to get into the frozen Apple, which has most of its population fleeing for warmer latitudes. Written and directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day).
Now Showing: Knoxville Center

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (PG-13)
When the corporate fitness center Globo Gym comes to town, Peter LaFleur (Vince Vaughn) can’t make a mortgage payment on his local Average Joe Gym. Rather than go under, Peter enters a group of misfits into a high-risk Las Vegas competition of the ageless elementary gym class favorite: dodgeball. The object of their aggression is the cocky corporate-minded Globo Gym Purple Cobras and their captain White Goodman (Ben Stiller).

Fahrenheit 9/11 (R)
Oscar-winner Michael Moore’s latest documentary scrutinizes the Bush family’s ties to the Saudi royal family, Osama bin Laden, and the events of Sept. 11, 2001. Not necessarily objective in the traditional documentary sense, Moore’s film spins facts into a compelling, polarizing web of issues, emotions and unanswered questions.
