Bulletproof Monk (PG-13)
A mysterious monk (Yun-Fat Chow) holds an ancient scroll that gives him ultimate wisdom, eternal youth, and apparently, the equivalent of an all-over bullet-proof vest. He's been on the run for 60 years, keeping the scroll from some nasty ninety-year-old Nazi (Karel Roden). Now, for reasons obscure, the monk must find a new scrollkeeper, who turns out to be Seann William Scott who goes by the amusing name of Kar. Can the two of them keep the scroll safe?

House of 1000 Corpses (R)
Techno-metal artist and first-time feature film director Rob Zombie scared Universal so bad with horror movie House that they refused to release it, so lil' Lion's Gate picked it up. It's loosely a remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, i.e., teenagers get lost in the middle of nowhere, end up in a house full of crazies, and all sorts of gross and macabre things befall them.

Kate Hudson is a women's magazine columnist who has ten days to write a column about all the things women do to drive men away. Matthew McConaughey is an ad exec who bets his boss that he can make a woman fall in love with him in ten days. Two such shallow characters deserve each other, so happily, they chance to meet.

Tommy Lee Jones plays an FBI deep-woods tracker (do you get the feeling that FBI agents get lost in the woods pretty regularly?) who tracks a crazed assassin (Benicio Del Toro) in the—you guessed it—deep woods. The tension will, no doubt *yawn* never stop.

A psychiatrist (Alfred Molina) reviews the case of a multiple-murderer (Pruitt Taylor Vince) as said murderer's lawyer's work for a stay on the eve of his execution. As plans are made for the killer's transfer to court, ten strangers (including John Cusack, Rebecca De Mornay, Ray Liotta, and Amanda Peet) find themselves stranded at a desolate desert hotel. One by one, they begin to die. Who's next? Why is it happening? What's the connection between the strangers? What's the connection with the soon-to-be-executed killer?

Malibu's Most Wanted (PG-13)
Jamie Kennedy is a white wannabe rapper whose father (Ryan O'Neil) is entering the California governor's race. Fearing his son will embarrass him (rightly so, no doubt), he hires a couple of actors (Taye Diggs and Anthony Anderson) to pretend they're thuggz-to-tha-bone gangstez, who proceed to "kidnap" the kid and take him to Compton to teach him about the "real" world.

A Man Apart (R)
DEA agent Sean Vetter (Vin Diesel) loses his girlfriend in what appears to be an act of retaliation for his nabbing a Mexican drug lord. A sleaze called Diablo (Timothy Olyphant) steps in to fill the vacuum in the drug cartel. Sooner or later, a confrontation must take place.

Phone Booth (R)
Colin Farrell stars as a self-absorbed user of a guy, who, after making a call to his mistress in a phone booth (so his wife won't see a record of the call) answers the phone when it rings immediately after he finishes his call. A sniper (Kiefer Sutherland) has Farrell in his sights demands that Farrell admit all the wrongs he has perpetrated in his life—or he'll kill him.

Roman Polanski's Palme D'or-winning film about Wladyslaw Szpilman, a Jewish pianist on the run during World War II. Incidentally, Polanski himself hid from the Nazis as a child.

This thriller purports to take us inside the harsh world of CIA training, with Al Pacino as our guide. Agency spokesman Chase Brandon shared his wealth of knowledge with the filmmakers, so I'm sure we'll be privy to all sorts of top-secret goodies.

In this sequel to 2000's Shanghai Noon, Chon (Jackie Chan) and Roy (Owen Wilson) head to London to find the rebel who murdered Chon's father.

Spirited Away (PG)
Japan's most popular film ever, and the winner of a Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, this animated feature takes on Alice in Wonderland's exploratory spirit with ten times the trippiness. Ostensibly a children's film, but not if your kids are scared by vomiting monsters and trash-devouring ghosts. Directed by Hayao Miyazaki (Princess Mononoke).

An elite mercenary squad led by Richard Burton- Wait, that was The Wild Geese in the '70s. Okay, um, a regrouped bunch of Vietnam war veterans, led by Gene Hackman- Wait, that was Uncommon Valor in the '80s. Errr, lessee, ah...In WWII, a reluctant captain (Tom Hanks) leads his unit to find- No, that was Saving Private Ryan in the '90s. All right, this is 2003, the guy in charge is Bruce Willis, and the setting is Nigeria.
