Birth (R)
In the continuing trend of movies with creepy kids, Birth is about a young widow, Anna (Nicole Kidman), about to marry her second husband when she meets a dead-serious 10-year-old boy who claims to be the reincarnation of her first. Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast) directs the screenplay by Jean-Claude Carriere and Milo Addica.

Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason (R)
The first Bridget Jones movie was charmingly foible-filled, from Bridget’s drunken attempts at karaoke during the office party to the unforgettable fire pole scene. Renee Zellweger packed on a few pounds and aced her role as the quirky Brit chick. The sequel is sure to see Bridg through more hysterical embarrassment and romantic blunders while choosing between her two cute British blokes played by Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell (sigh).

The two pair up to play a married couple who, after their daughter goes to Peru for a Peace Corps mission, decide to cancel Christmas altogether and opt for a Caribbean cruise instead. A scramble to reinstate Chevy Chase-style decor and cheer ensues when their daughter calls suddenly to say she’ll be coming home after all.

The Incredibles (PG)
These days, it seems to be a requirement for Hollywood’s A-listers to lend their voice to animated films—or maybe they are all just sick of the Zone diet. Anyhow, Pixar has done it again, rounding up Holly Hunter, Jason Lee, and Samuel L. Jackson for the hero-packed adventure. The plot follows Bob Parr, a former superhero known as “Mr. Incredible,” who moves to the ‘burbs for a normal life with the wife and kids. But it’s not long before he gets the call to duty for a hush-hush mission.

Shark Tale (PG)
Unlike last year’s big-biting, G-rated fish-flick Finding Nemo, this animated Dreamworks tale takes its cartoon a step higher (and darker) by presenting the child (and childlike adult) audience with a tiny hustler named Oscar (Will Smith) who’s hunted by a dangerous gang of killer sharks. Along with Smith, Renee Zellweger, Jack Black, Robert De Niro and director Martin Scorsese spotlight the impressive list of character voices.
