After accidentally witnessing a mafia hit, Midwestern gal pals Connie (Nia Vardalos) and Carla (Toni Collette) run away to Los Angeles, where they disguise themselves as drag queens. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (R)
Based on everyone’s favorite post-breakup fantasy, this script by Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) presents Lacuna, Inc., a company that can surgically remove pesky memories of disastrous relationships. In this case, it’s the mental images of ex-boyfriend Joel (Jim Carrey) from the mind of Clementine (Kate Winslet). When Joel finds out, he opts for the same procedure. But sweeping their tumultuous times together from his memory isn’t as easy or desirable as he originally suspected. With Tom Wilkinson, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood and Kirsten Dunst.

The Girl Next Door (R)
Straight from the sexual fantasies of a 17-year-old comes The Girl Next Door, a teen sex comedy in which the straight-laced Matthew (Emile Hirsch) meets Danielle (24’s Elisha Cuthbert), his impossibly gorgeous new neighbor. For some reason she’s charmed by all the gaping and stammering he does in her proximity. More impossible still, she’s a porn star, trying to return to an innocent, normal life. The Ladykillers (R)
This 1955 comedy originally starred Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers as thieves planning a heist from a London flat. In the revision tweaked by Ethan and Joel Coen, Tom Hanks is a Southern professor who rents a room with an old lady (Irma P. Hall) and proceeds to plan the heist of a cash-laden riverboat casino using her basement as HQ. As he and his thief pals (including Marlon Wayans) pose as a band practicing “church music,” the old lady gets suspicious and threatens the scheme.
