The Year in Review
Every December, the staff of Metro Pulse casts a wide-eyed look back at the things that have made the year special. This year has been one of change and renewal, with shifts in virtually every aspect of Knoxville life and culture. We've tried to pick out and comment with a minimum of jaundice on the most significant of those changes, as well as to point to the things that have stayed the same. Read about 'em... and don't weep.

Citybeat
Joe Tarr tells why produce sellers are coming back to Market Square, where they belong, and Clint Casey describes the strife to get a crumbling sidewalk repaired.
Plus: Seven Days, Meet your City, and Knoxville Found.

Joe Sullivan takes a close look at the options for clearing up our polluted air in Insights, Brian Conley explains how he's paying an old debt to music in A Note from the Publisher, Jack Neely makes his year-end, new-year wishes for Knoxville in Secret History, Scott McNutt assesses the state of our civil rights, and Jack Mauro explains his peculiar affliction — a Yankee heritage.
