Antwone Fisher (PG-13)
Fisher is based on the life story of its title character, who wrote the screenplay. Newcomer Derek Luke plays Antwone, a hot-headed sailor who comes to terms with himself and his family through the aid of a doctor (Denzel Washington, who also directs).

Charlie Kaufman, the writer of Adaptation read the autobio of somewhat loopy former game show host Chuck Barris (The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game, The Gong Show), who claims to have interspersed his TV gigs with hits for the CIA. Then Kaufman took the kook at his word. Sam Rockwell plays Barris; Drew Barrymore, George Clooney and Julia Roberts also star.

A guy (Be Affleck) gets super powers from an accidental encounter with radioactive materials, loses a loved one to crime, then dons a skin-tight costume and vows to fight for justice against bad guys (Michael Clarke Duncan , Colin Farrell). You'd do the same, wouldn't you?

Three guys, tired of their meddling sister (Gabrielle Union) nosing into their respective relationships, hire a penniless playboy (LL Cool J) to give her some romance of her own. Things seem to go smoothly, then, natch, the playboy falls in love with the busybody. One just can't tire of this kind of plot, especially just before Valentine's day, right?

It's set in the Washington, D.C. of 2054, when crime has been eliminated by a psychic police force. But Police Chief John Anderton (Cruise) runs into trouble when the psychics foresee that he's going to commit a murder himself. Based on a short story by Philip K. Dick.

Yet another indie melting-pot film, about a 30-year-old Greek-American woman (Nia Vardalos, who also wrote the script) falling in love with a WASPy guy. Cultural complications ensue, but (as the title suggests) love carries the day.
