Revenge of the Disabled
If you own a restaurant, store, or hotel in Knoxville and you aren't nervous about whether your business violates the Americans with Disabilities Act, you should be. Since last summer, at least 10 Knoxville businesses have been sued for alleged ADA violations. The plaintiffs are two Knoxville residents, but the suits are being initiated by a Florida-based group called ADA Access Now. Bill Carey reports on what ADA Access Now and its plaintiffs want and are likely to get.

Citybeat
With the closure of Spicy's in the Old City, Joe Tarr looks into accusations that Knoxville is neglecting one part of downtown to bring another one back. Speaking of downtown, Joe Sullivan reports on two developments elsewhere: a delay in Market Square's redevelopment and the dueling plans for a new convention hotel. Finally, Jack Neely eulogizes local hero A.B. "Frosty" Luttrell.
Plus: Seven Days, Meet your City, and Knoxville Found.

It's time for the state to think hard about raiding TDOT funds, Joe Sullivan argues in Insights, Stephanie Piper mourns the loss, but praises the gift, of the woman who was almost an in-law in Midpoint, and Jack Neely finds out about one of Knoxville's long-lost race tracks in Secret History.

Life is Short; Mount Hard
There aren't many things in the world more politically incorrect than stuffing dead animals for public display. However, prompted by the great Martha Stewart, Adrienne Martini visited Mountain Dogs Taxidermy and Freeze Dry and learned all there was to know (well, all she wanted to know) about the art of taxidermy.

It may not be easy to remember who's in Flesh Vehicle, but Mike Gibson reminds us that the band's still around in the Music Feature, which is great for fans of Knoxville rock. Meanwhile, we check in with an overseas-bound Jag Star in Eye on the Scene. Paige Travis previews Knoxville's wonderful world of dance on display at the upcoming Dance Perspectives 2003 in Backstage. From Eminem's White America to Neko Case's Blacklisted, our esteemed panel of judges—they're way too esteemed to list here—run down the best CDs of 2002 in Platters. Connie Seuer says that those of us who haven't taken the time to do anything except drink beer at the Preservation Pub are missing out, in Restaurant Rover. But, hey, beer is food, isn't it? Katie Allison Granju explains the shame of being domestically challenged in Loco Parentis.
