James Raxter
sales manager, '94-'96
After abandoning a promising career in cellular phone and FM radio sales,
James joined the staff as a sales rep in '92. He and his hair managed to
work their way up the Metro Pulse ladder--and into an office all their own,
where James became possibly the only sales manager in the Association of
Alternative Newsweeklies to use the phrase "golly gee" on a regular basis.
James was the sunny-side-up yin to the editiorial and art staffs' grouchy,
eye-rolling yang. Besides cheerfully lording over a seemingly revolving door
of account execs, he also had the thankless job of making nice with clients
after the editorial staff pissed them off.
