Good Vibrations

We need to keep our personal ones in order

Holographic Repatterning. I couldn’t get my little mind around what on earth this could be. I couldn’t even come up with a concept after reading the literature. And, now that it’s been done to me, it’s still hard to explain, although it did shift me a bit.

Holographic Repatterning is a therapeutic technique that is the result of combining elements of several different body/mind/spirit systems. It is most strongly rooted in the Chakra system (India) and the Five Element-Meridian system (China), although it also has some strong elements of neurolinguistic programming. The technique of Holographic Reprogramming is used to identify personal and often deep-seated issues, and, through that discovery, allow the individual to experience the issue and to move past it into a higher understanding of one’s self. Since Holographic Repatterning is energy and emotional therapy, a series of sessions works best to sort out and change old patterns of behavior and thinking. And this makes sense since core issues cannot be sorted out and changed in one hour.

I met with Laura Frisbie for a session to find out what this was about. She spent a few minutes asking me what I wanted to change or solve, but I really didn’t have any one specific thing to work on. Heck, I rarely think anything is wrong unless someone bothers to point it out to me.

Holographic Repatterning deals with one’s core vibrational frequencies. Our bodies are matter and energy and thus have vibrations or frequencies that correspond to the different areas of the body as a whole. When the core frequencies are out of whack, the body, mind and spirit of the person can get out of whack too.

Since I had no specific direction to give Laura, she had to test the meridians to find out where to head. The meridian system is most simply explained by saying that all the systems in the body, respiratory, heart, etc. have a linked energy system. And each system has certain points or meridians that can be manipulated either to release, hold, or focus energy. Once the affected meridian system is discovered, a new path of questioning having to do with the issues and energies surrounding the system begins. This is how core issues and problems are discovered.

All of the testing is done in the same manner. She asked a question, and my arm answered. I was sitting in a chair with my elbow on a table with my forearm in the air. When a question was asked, she pushed on my arm. If the question resonated with me, my arm remained firm. If it did not, my arm fell. The question and response is known as the Holographic Repatterning muscle indicator and is a procedure borrowed from kinesiology. Laura is guided by intuition to ask certain questions, and the muscle testing is the validation that the path of questioning is correct. The muscle testing also verifies if the path of questioning is finished or not.

I was quite surprised when she asked a question and my arm gave the answer. I tried to figure out how or why, but I couldn’t. The movement of my arm was beyond my control. Through this question and response, Laura was able to find an affected meridian system and identify a core issue with me. It was something that happened to me as a child and, although I’ve always remembered it, I never realized how strong an effect it actually had on me. But Laura did. Because we only did the one session, she worked with me for several minutes to change the frequency this issue and try to clear it. We did this work through sound using a certain pitch to try to change the resonance of the experience. Because we didn’t do a whole series of sessions, I don’t know what the actual therapy is once someone has identified all the various “bad vibrations” they might be walking around with. I do know that I can now think back on that event without grimacing and without pain. Something changed in me.

Holographic Repatterning is one of the most difficult experiences I’ve ever tried to explain and one of the most interesting. The therapeutic technique is a powerful way to identify patterns or issues that manifest themselves as bad habits, difficult behavior patterns and self-defeating perceptions and to transform these into personal growth.
