Hitching Post

The Metro Pulse family got a little more familial last weekend. Two of our longtime contributors, Zak Weisfeld and Joey Cody, gave a doozy of an "I do" to each other in an outdoor wedding ceremony at Ijams Nature Center on Oct. 20. It was attended by what we can only call a media savvy crowd—not surprising, considering the newly nuptialed duo's day jobs are at Jupiter Entertainment (where Zak produces hit TV shows for the A&E network) and Media South (where Joey does public relations work for assorted area companies). The multi-cultural ceremony included variations on the traditional vows, combined with Jewish and Native American customs. Plus a John Denver song. It was presided over by County Commissioner David Collins (and among the attendees was City Council hopeful Rob Frost, who sold Zak and Joey his old house in the Fourth and Gill neighborhood on the condition that they allow him to put up a yard sign). Anyway, Joey and Zak are two of the best people we know, and we wish them continued happiness together.

While we're at it, we should mention that two more of the best people we know also got hitched in September—Metro Pulse classified sales manager Jeannie Maples tied the knot with downtown printing mogul Peter Ullrich. They celebrated with a wingding of a reception at the Tennessee Theatre. Congrats all around.
